At just over 5 weeks old, Kamran attended his very first wedding - Bhamini Masi's and Rob Masa's wedding! It has been a year in the making and we have been looking forward to the big day for a very long time! Bhamini and Rob had initially planned on having their wedding the weekend of June 6th but were forced to change their date to July 11th once we found out we were expecting and due on June 17th. Good thing they did since Kamran was born on June 5th! Kamran thought Bhamini Masi made a gorgeous bride - just like a princess! It was definitely a bit emotional for me seeing my baby sister get married!
Since the day I found out we were having a boy I had been putting myself into frenzy trying to find the perfect wedding outfits for Kamran! It was impossible to find any Indian clothes to fit the little guy so I had to go to Plan B. After months of searching and buying things here and there with Nana and Bhami Masi, we were able to piece a few outfits together. Some of which swallowed the little man but he looked so adorable!
I was also stressing myself out about how we were going to manage taking care of a newborn at my sister's wedding. We didn't want to leave Kamran in just anyone's care. Fortunately a friend referred us to a fantastic baby sitter. We would not have survived the day without her! For most of the day Kamran stayed in the hotel room with her and we took him out for family pictures and to attend bits and pieces of the day's events. We also had additional babysitters on hand - Dadi, Mehul's aunt, Ami Fui and Chris Fua. They were nice enough to babysit from 10:30 to midnight while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the wedding festivities.
Kamran was on his absolute best behavior at his masi and masa's wedding. He pretty much slept the entire day which is incredible b/c he is sleeping less and less during the day now. Why do they always seem to do so well when Mommy & Daddy aren't around?! He even spent his first night away from home at the hotel with us and did really well. Of course Kamran ended up with the most luggage than all of us for just one night. It's amazing how much stuff these little people require!
The actual day was a hectic one as it was a double header wedding - both Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies with a reception in the evening. I was pretty delirious by the end of the night but Daddy amazingly still had the energy to party till 2am - no big surprise for those that know him! ;-) But he took the rest of the night feedings when he got back so I won't complain! I think it's taken me about 3 days to recover with all the broken sleep. These are the times that Mehul and I are screaming for those days where we could get solid 8 hours of sleep to catch up!
I've had a number of people ask me to send pics from the wedding. Since we were in the wedding party and running around quite a bit, I didn't get as many pics as I would have liked but I've posted a slideshow of some we have from the big day!
