Busy Bee!

Kamran has been a popular boy this past week. He's had another handful of people visit him recently.

It started out last Tuesday when Misty and her two boys, Will & Jack, came by for a visit during the day...

On Saturday morning Mommy's friend from middle school, Cathy and her husband, Cory dropped in. Cathy and Cory are expecting their first baby (another BOY!) this October. We can't wait for Kamran to meet him!

Then he got a visit from Auntie Reetu and Uncle Dave who dropped by later in the day.

On Sunday Uncle Sanjay and Auntie Anita came by...

And finally on Monday afternoon, Mommy had lunch with Mary so she could meet the little man.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to meet Kamran!

Wine Connoisseur?

On Saturday afternoon we decided to visit to a local winery for a little R&R. Bhami Masi and Rob Masa joined the fun as well since they had stopped by after getting back from their honeymoon. A lot of other parents must have had the same idea as us because there were tons of other kids around so fortunately Kam fit right in. This is the second winery he has visited in less than a month! Hopefully his parents aren't encouraging a drinking habit too early ;-)

Point & Click

During my free moments I really enjoy taking photos of Kamran. I'm still learning all the ins and outs of my camera but what better subject to experiment with?! Kamran also seems to be enamored with the camera. As soon as I start pointing it at him he can't take his eyes off it! In fact there are occassions when he is crying and will stop as soon as I take the camera out. Here are just a few of my favorites from the past couple of weeks including some that Daddy took of me and the little man together....

Kamran has just recently learned his pouty look. This picture is the closest I could get to capturing it. It's so adorable and my heart melts when I see it!
Tummy Time! Kamran is starting to enjoy tummy time more and more. We have to catch him while he is in just the right mood though...Usually in the morning when he is at his happiest (and calmest!)

Weekend Vistors

This weekend started out with Mommy having to call Daddy late Friday morning to rush home from work because she wasn't feeling well. After taking some medicine and napping a few hours she felt much better by the evening. We had dinner with Uncle Praveen, Uncle Jay, and the Patels. We forgot our camera but got a few pictures on my phone.

Uncle Praveen with Kam. If you look closely, you will see that Daddy styled Kam's hair in a mohawk before we left!

Daddy with Rayan

On Satuday afternoon Daddy went to the Abrahams for their Summer Bash party. Unfortunately Kamran and I did not make it but we hope to see them soon. Mommy's friend from high school, Michelle, dropped by for a visit to meet Kamran. She got some play time with Kamran and once he fell asleep we ventured out to a grab a late lunch together.

Later in the evening, Auntie Toby & Rayan stopped by. Our little boys kept their mommies on their toes while their daddies were away. The kids would not sleep and wanted to stay up and enjoy all the fun around them! We didn't even get time for pictures until after Daddy got home (also when I handed Kam off for the rest of the night! ;-)

On Sunday, The Thaivlappils came by to visit Kamran. We were thinking that we finally have some toys in the house to keep our little visitors occupied. But Maya didn't need those. She was perfectly content with the things around her. She had us laughing so hard when she crawled into the open space on our coffee table! Maya has us wondering if we will need to buy anymore toys for Kamran - we may already have enough to keep him busy! ;-)

Another fun weekend!

A Visit to Dadi's

Kamran made his first trip to Dadi's house this week. Dadi has been asking us to bring Kamran to her place for quite a while and we finally made the visit . We had dinner while Kamran napped and he woke up just in time to play with everyone for a while before we left.

Wedding Fun!

At just over 5 weeks old, Kamran attended his very first wedding - Bhamini Masi's and Rob Masa's wedding! It has been a year in the making and we have been looking forward to the big day for a very long time! Bhamini and Rob had initially planned on having their wedding the weekend of June 6th but were forced to change their date to July 11th once we found out we were expecting and due on June 17th. Good thing they did since Kamran was born on June 5th! Kamran thought Bhamini Masi made a gorgeous bride - just like a princess! It was definitely a bit emotional for me seeing my baby sister get married!

Since the day I found out we were having a boy I had been putting myself into frenzy trying to find the perfect wedding outfits for Kamran! It was impossible to find any Indian clothes to fit the little guy so I had to go to Plan B. After months of searching and buying things here and there with Nana and Bhami Masi, we were able to piece a few outfits together. Some of which swallowed the little man but he looked so adorable!

I was also stressing myself out about how we were going to manage taking care of a newborn at my sister's wedding. We didn't want to leave Kamran in just anyone's care. Fortunately a friend referred us to a fantastic baby sitter. We would not have survived the day without her! For most of the day Kamran stayed in the hotel room with her and we took him out for family pictures and to attend bits and pieces of the day's events. We also had additional babysitters on hand - Dadi, Mehul's aunt, Ami Fui and Chris Fua. They were nice enough to babysit from 10:30 to midnight while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the wedding festivities.

Kamran was on his absolute best behavior at his masi and masa's wedding. He pretty much slept the entire day which is incredible b/c he is sleeping less and less during the day now. Why do they always seem to do so well when Mommy & Daddy aren't around?! He even spent his first night away from home at the hotel with us and did really well. Of course Kamran ended up with the most luggage than all of us for just one night. It's amazing how much stuff these little people require!

The actual day was a hectic one as it was a double header wedding - both Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies with a reception in the evening. I was pretty delirious by the end of the night but Daddy amazingly still had the energy to party till 2am - no big surprise for those that know him! ;-) But he took the rest of the night feedings when he got back so I won't complain! I think it's taken me about 3 days to recover with all the broken sleep. These are the times that Mehul and I are screaming for those days where we could get solid 8 hours of sleep to catch up!

I've had a number of people ask me to send pics from the wedding. Since we were in the wedding party and running around quite a bit, I didn't get as many pics as I would have liked but I've posted a slideshow of some we have from the big day!

One Month!

Kamran is one month old! We celebrated the event with some cake and extra quality time with the little guy. Bhami Masi & Rob Masa also stopped by to wish the little man Happy (1 month) Birthday! We don't have any official stats to report but Mommy and Daddy definitely think he has gotten a little longer and heavier.

Mehul and I spent some time looking at videos of Kamran from his birth and first few days. This was the first time we had a chance to watch them. Looking at those videos made us realize how much Kamran changed. That inspired us to start taking more videos of the little guy. It's amazing how much they change in just a month. Right now, Kamran is very expressive with hands. Mehul and I love watching his hand movements so I tried to catch it on video. He's especially this way first thing in the morning. The second video Daddy is having some fun with Kamran. For some context, Mehul is addicted to the show "Gangland" on the History Channel. Much to my dismay, Daddy sometimes watches Gangland while giving Kamran his bottle. Let's hope this doesn't have any lingering effects on my little guy! If you listen closely you can hear me smacking Mehul during one part of the video. Don't worry, we really do try be good parents - Daddy just has an interesting sense of humour! ;-)

What a Difference a Year Makes!

This was the common saying over the weekend.... This long weekend Auntie Bhavika, Uncle James, and Kieran came up for a visit. We were thrilled to meet The Groves latest addition , Kieran, who was born in April. This was our first time meeting Kieran and we are happy they decided to make the trip up to DC from NC!

We spent last 4th of July (2008) with Bhavika and James and we could not help but marvel at how much our lives have changed! With two more additions to add to our brood, our time together over the long weekend was certainly a different experience than the year before. We enjoyed introducing the two little guys to each other and pegged Kieran as Kamran's bodyguard - he's nearly double Kamran's size! In between the diaper changes, feedings, and trying to get the boys to sleep; the weekend was filled with hanging out and even a trip to a local winery! We also had a play date at the Kalbs where Kamran got to meet up with his friends Kadyn & Rayan. Unfortunately we didn't get a picture with all the kids together.

We're looking forward to making the trip down to NC see The Groves soon!

Here are some pics from our weekend:

Visiting Daddy at Work!

Today was a big day for Daddy! He leased a new office space for his company and they moved in today! Kamran and I went to visit Daddy's new office and introduce him to some of the Octo team. Kamran even put on his own tie for the special day! :-) We're so excited and proud of Daddy! Maybe one day Kamran will take over and move into Daddy's office!?!

We finished up the gorgeous day with a nice lunch. I wish all my days at home could be like this....
