Beginning 2010

The first month of 2010 has flown by and it's been quite the busy one! I thought it would be much easier to recap in one entry (warning - this is a long post!)....And the perfect time to catch up on this snowy wkd!

We started off the month with Kam's 7 month birthday!

Nana and Nani came to visit for a few weeks in January. Mehul and I asked them to come up for a bit because we had a few weekend events planned like Mehul's Winter/Holiday party....


AND a trip to Miami! This was our first trip away with Kamran. It was super hard for me to be away from my Kamran, even if it was just for a few days. I survived however and it was nice to catch up on about 7+ months of sleep deprivation! We found ourselves talking about Kam a lot...wondering what he was doing, what it would have been like to have him with us - he's extremely curious and loves to people watch! We survived by Skyp'ing with Kam and it was WONDERFUL to see his precious face!!


Kam did great without us and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandparents. I think the separation was much harder for us than him. We're so thankful Nana & Nani gave us the chance to sneak away away for a few days. We know the little guy can be quite the active one - he wears us down pretty fast!



We rounded out the month with some more visitors...Vikas Kaka (Mehul's cousin) visited us all the way from Boston. This is the first time he met Kamran.


Than Dadi returned from a two month trip to India...and came bearing gifts - a belated Xmas celebration for Kam!


Auntie Jen C visited a few days later from NC. She hasn't seen Kam since the end of September.


We also celebrated Rayan's 1st birthday! It was so adorable when he started to cheese as everyone sang happy birthday to him!


Kam had his first (and very tiny!) taste of chocolate cake which he absolutely loved!

We also had a chance to meet Sachin. Daddy and Auntie Prema traded up...

and Aidrek.....

Unfortunately the end of the month has brought us with a bout of sickness. Kam's daycare has had several cases of RSV as well as additional cases of bronchiolitis. Inevitably Kam caught it about it a week later. He was diagnosed with a mild case of bronchiolitis and and an ear infection on top of it! He's been holding up just fine though. Definitely been more stressful for the parents. It pains us to hear him him cough :-(

7 months!

Weight: ~13.5lbs. Kam is still a tiny little fella! He decided to go on a hunger strike back during the Christmas holiday and it's been on and off since then!

Some interesting things that Kam seems to love these days:
- When we sing the ABCs to him
- Gadgets - remote controls, cell phones, laptops, you name it! And he won't be fooled by the fake ones!
-Dangly strings, especially ones that hang off of my hoodie jackets
-Window blinds
-Balloons
-Still loves the ceiling fan! This used to be a favorite of his while I was on maternity leave. We thought he would grow out of it but he's still just as entertained by it.

Other developments:
-Kam's been sitting up on his own for a while now, but tips over after a few minutes. He seems to want to stand more than sit.

-He's been rolling around all over the place! If we turn our back just for a few seconds he's moved way off in the other direction.

-He seems to be making attempts to crawl...pushing with the tips of his toes while on his stomach. We tempt him with his paci or toys. But if he really wants to get to it he just rolls around and wiggles until he gets to what he wants!

Kamran's first NYE was a quiet one...Mommy and Daddy put him to bed and then went out to dinner with some friends while Ms. Kim babysat for us. We were sure to give our little one a kiss when we got home though! We're looking forward to beginning the start of this new decade with our Kam!
