Just Because...

Here are some fun pictures of Kamran from the past few weeks:

These two are some of my favorites! Bhami Masi came over one Friday and had him laughing and giggling so much - even Daddy and I couldn't get him to do that! Thankfully I was able to get it on camera.

Another Round of Visitors!

Kamran had another set of visitors meet him over the past week. It started out last Tuesday when Mommy's friend from high school, Auntie Becky, and her husband, Uncle John, were in town visiting from NYC. Mommy and Auntie Becky had a great time reminiscing about the old days and catching up since they don't get to see each other very often.

And today Auntie Sam and her youngest boy, Paxton, came just for a day visit from Williamsburg. I've mentioned so many of Kamran's buddies that have been born over the past year and Paxton is one of them. He was born back in March and as you can tell in the pictures, he towers over Kamran! Auntie Sam is a lot braver than Mommy ever could be making that trip from Williamsburg all on her own! I'm so glad she was because the boys were finally able to meet. We're looking forward to them becoming great friends!

Summer Picnic

This weekend was a fairly quiet one which we really enjoyed since those seem to be few and far between! All the rain gave us a chance to have some "three time" at home. :-) On Sunday we attended Daddy's company picnic hosted by The Swensons at their place. Kamran did so great while we were away we didn't realize that we had been gone for almost 5 hours! Kamran did awesome - hardly a peep came from the little guy and he was awake most of the time. He really enjoyed looking around and taking in the new surroundings as well as meeting more of the Octo team.

Here are the Daddy/son duo looking super cute together. Kamran is sporting a onesie designed by Mommy.

We ordered a few extra for the four other Octo babies that have arrived during the past few months. And there is one more on the way! Hmmm...wonder if there is something in the water over there!? Unfortunately we didn't get a photo of all the babies together since not all of them could make it. But Kamran did get to meet his friend, baby girl Reagan Swenson, who was born about 3 weeks before him. Kamran looks a bit drunk in that second picture - wonder if he got into the beer when we werent looking?!

Kamran also got to meet Tonka, The Swensons 100lb dog! We've known The Swensons for a long time and I LOVE their dog! Mommy is a dog lover while Daddy is well...not so much. ;-) I couldn't wait for Kam to meet Tonka since Mehul and I have wondered who he will take after. While he's probably too young to know for sure, survey says he's going to take after Mommy! Kamran didn't flinch a bit when we introduced the two.

Kamran's Newborn Photos

We had Kamran's professional newborn photos taken a while back and I thought I would share some of the photos. We broke up the the sessions in a two part series. Kamran's first session took place when he was two weeks old (color and white background pictures). The second session (black background pictures) took place a few weeks later when Kamran was 6 weeks old. I'm so glad that our photographer, Stephanie, offered that option to us. We were surprised to see how much Kamran had changed in a matter of 4 weeks. They always say kids grow up fast but I guess you don't realize it until you have one of your own....

While Kamran spent his entire first session sleeping, he was wide awake during the second session. Stephanie had warned us that he probably pee on us since we also decided to do all natural shots of him during the family photos. She was right! Kamran started out by pee'ing on Daddy. I thought for sure we were in the clear after that but I guess Kam didn't want to play favorites - so he pee'ed on Mommy too! It was definitely a memorable experience :-)

Weekend in Review

On Friday the Kalbs, Patels, and Pillais came over. Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures while he was awake. Even though the pictures don't show it, Kamran did get to see his auntie and uncles as well as his friends Kadyn and Rayan before he fell asleep in his carseat (which has become his occassional favorite place to sleep in the evening before we move him to his crib at night).

On Saturday Mommy and Daddy enjoyed their sixth wedding anniversary by going out to dinner while Dadi, Didi, and Ami Masi babysat Kamran. Kamran got in some play time with his grandma and aunts before he went to sleep for the rest of the evening. Even so, Mommy had Daddy check in every hour :-)! Here we all are before we left for dinner.

Cousins Reunion

Every year Mehul's cousins hold a reunion during the summer months. This year marks the 12th year for the reunion. Between all the cousins, their spouses and children, Kamran is the 37th addition to the group! While we usually go away for the weekend, it was decided to keep this year's reunion low key and in DC this year. We had a chance to introduce Kamran to more of his extended family for the first time. Ketan and Nikki (or Ketan Kaka and Nikki Kaki for Kamran) organized and very graciously (and bravely!) hosted this year's festivities.

The meeting & greeting began earlier in the week on Monday evening when Ashmi & Suneet (Ashmi Fua and Suneet Fua for Kamran) visiting from Florida dropped by to meet Kamran.

The rest of Daddy's cousins met Kamran over the weekend. As the youngest addition to the group, the little guy was showered with lots of attention!

It was great to see everyone and we look forward to Kamran being a part of this tradition for years to come!

2 Months & More Birthday Excitement!

Today marks 2 months to the day Kamran was born. I'm just about half way through my maternity leave and I can't believe how fast the time is flying!

Kamran's two month birthday began with a visit to the doctor's office for his 2 month wellness checkup. This included his first round of immunization shots - a total of 3 shots in his thighs and an oral vaccination. I'm pretty sure the experience was more traumatic for Mommy than for Kamran. He did great - some crying with the initial injections but after some cuddling with Daddy he was doing ok. He was fussier than usual later in the day but after some Tylenol and cuddling he got through the day alright. Of couse, Mommy and Daddy felt pretty guilty about marking his 2 month birthday with a visit to the doctor and even worse - shots! We will remember not to do that next time! Every time I looked at those band-aids on his little thighs made me feel so sad for him.

Some other stats on Kamran:
*He is 8lbs 4 oz (a two pound jump in one month)
*He is 21 1/8 inches long

As for personality, Kamran is:
*Coo'ing a lot more, especially in the morning - Mommy and Daddy LOVE this!
*Starting to grin while he is awake
*Following us with his eyes
*Holding his neck up for longer periods of time
*Enjoying looking at the TV or any kind of lights
*Enjoying music
*Enjoying being talked to

Nana & Nani came into town on Wednesday evening for a visit. It had been one month since they last saw Kamran and were thrilled to see the little man!

We had a birthday celebration since Nana's and Bhami Masi's birthday are next week. We enjoyed a nice dinner out and enjoyed some yummy cake back at Bhami Masi's and Rob Masa's place.

A Birthday Party & Daddy/Kam time

The past few days have been filled with lots of quality time for Daddy and Kamran. Before I get into all the fun (or should I say debauchery) they have been getting into, Kamran wanted to make of note his very first birthday party over the weekend. We attended Ellie's 3rd birthday celebration on Saturday afternoon. The birthday girl looked so adorable in her summer dress! We also had a chance to meet another one of Kamran's buddies for the first time, Jaanav, who is just about 2 months older than Kamran.

Back to Daddy and Kam...Over the wkd Auntie Jen C (from NC) visited us.

Mommy enjoyed spending most of her time having a girls weekend with Auntie Jen while Daddy had a boys weekend with Kamran. Daddy didn't dish out all the details of their time together but Mommy is pretty sure it included some time watching Gangland -SIGH! Daddy also discovered his love for books (sadly Mommy hasn't been reading to Kamran as much as she should but Daddy realized that Kam loves being read to) and 80s music! It seemed to capture the little man's attention and I got it on video when daddy showed me later.

On Tuesday night, Mommy had dinner out with some friends while Daddy and Kam hung out. Daddy decided to incorporate a tradition he has been talking about ever since we found we were having a boy - going to Hooters(double SIGH)! Daddy was super excited to take the little dude with him and enjoyed introducing his wingman to all the ladies. To Mommy's relief, Kamran didn't seem to be as impressed with his surroundings! ;-)
