Devan's Rice Ceremony

This weekend we attended Devan's Annaprasan. An Annaprasan marks a child's first taste of food (other than milk). The Kalb family looked great, especially the kids in their super cute Indian clothes.

We carefully timed Kamran's naps for the event and crossed our fingers the little guy would hold up during the event. Kamran did really well and especially enjoyed hanging out with Uncle Praveen & Auntie Kavitha. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of them together but the parents to be are naturals!

Kamran and Rayan horsing around...

Here comes Sachin to join the fun!

Mr. Independent

These days Kamran wants to do a lot more on his own. Most recently it has been all about feeding himself.

First, he inspects his food...

Looks ok...

Yummy!

Must wash it down

Remote Control Wars

During the week while we get ready for work, Kam hangs out in his pack and play which is set up in our room. Mehul was out of town this week and to keep sane while I was getting ready, I gave Kamran the remote control while I went to shower (he loves the remote control!). We usually leave the morning news on for background but today Kamran must have wanted to watch something else. Somehow Kamran managed to change the channel on his own.

Here's what I found him happily watching

Let's Go to the Park

We were excited to take Kamran to the park this weekend since it's been our first warm weekend in well...a while! We packed a picnic and let the little guy roam to his leisure - until he started getting into the dirt and wanted to snack on that instead :-)

9 months!

I was a bit late taking his photo this month. That's Kamran's cheese grin.

And another one just for fun...

Weight: We're making progress ~15lbs.

Height: 27 in.

A lot has changed in only month. Kamran is mobile and wow what a change of pace that has been for us! He is into just about everything, particularly the things he shouldn't be into. He's also trying to pull himself up on occassion.

We've also gone paci free! Mehul and I went back and forth on this one for a while, debating whether it was too soon or not. We decided to go for it - cold turkey. It was a far easier adjustment than we expected. In fact I think it was more difficult for us than Kamran. For the first few days, naps and bedtime were filled with a couple of minutes of fussiness but usually nothing more than that. The first few nights were really tough for me...I was tempted to comfort my little man but Mehul held me back. Btw - what felt like 20 minutes was actually 1 or 2 minutes! These days bedtime is drama free.

Kamran continues to be quite the active and talkative kid. He's been saying things like dada & mama but I'm 99.9% sure he has no idea what they mean. But a mom can dream right?! ;-)

He claps his hands and will try imitate certain things we say to him. He also knows how to say no by shaking his head back and forth - he does this a lot when he's done eating.

It's been a lot of fun watching all these changes. I keep saying it, but it feels like the time is flying and he's growing up entirely too fast on us.
