OBX 2010

This year we kicked off the beginning of our summer with a week long vacation to OBX with The Groves & The Patels.

We left a day early and visited with the The Chous in Williamsburg. The Chou boys, Dylan and Paxton, made Kamran feel right at home.

We share!

Fortunately, the trip from Williamsburg to OBX was drama free with the assistance of our portable DVD player.

The week was filled with exploring the OBX as it was our first time there. Kam really enjoyed the water and and it was great to see him so happy!

What is Kamran Like?

At just over a year old, I thought I would mention some snippets about Kamran:

*Loves to say "hi" to strangers

*Knows how to say bye-bye

*Will make attempts to repeat what we say, especially things like "Thank You", "Good Job" and "Ok".

*Current favorite foods includes cheese and hamburgers!

*Has learned how to throw temper tantrums (not fun!)

Kamran was transitioning to his new classroom at daycare, Infant II, in mid June. Kamran wasn't too accepting of the transition initially (stranger anxiety), but has really taken to the classroom now. Mom and Dad on the other hand were having a harder time! We loved his Infant I teachers and will miss them lots! I guess this is a cycle we will have to get used to....We also miss that second nap Kamran seems to have dropped as part of his new classroom!

And finally some silly pictures of Kamran at his water table..

Happy Father's Day!

Kamran's New Look

We finally did it (and it was way harder for us than we thought!). It's taken us the entire weekend to get used to but I think we are finally warming up to Kam's haircut. The hardest part is accepting that Kam looks "older" now.

The process went as well as to be expected...

After (not a happy camper):

Splish Splash

In prep for our OBX trip in just a few weeks, we wanted to get Kamran ready for the water. Bhami Masi suggested we come visit since they have pool at her place. So Kam and I packed up our swim gear for an impromptu visit to Bhami Masi's & Rob Masa's.

All along, Mehul and I were expecting that Kamran wouldn't like the water. But he proved us wrong. He was a little timid in the beginning when I dipped his feet (probably b/c the water was freezing!), but he loved it when we both got in. He was splashing the water and tossed the ball with Rob Masa.

Here's my little tadpole (still dry)...

And when we finally decided to brave the water...

Kamran Turns 1!

It's hard to believe, but the day arrived and has now passed... Kamran is 1!
Weight: ~16lbs
Height: 28.5 inches

Our little baby is officially a toddler now! And I'm not sure how I feel about this...

We celebrated Kam's first birthday with our families. It was a nice gathering of the grandparents and Kamran's aunts/uncles. Kamran was showered with so much attention I'm not sure he knew what do it with it all! He must have been so overstimulated from the day because he talked to himself for over an hour in his crib before he finally fell asleep. I guess he was recapping the day ;-)

The morning started out something similar to that of Christmas for Kamran (only after he escaped Mommy & Daddy from all the snuggles and kisses!); and he had another round of "Christmas" later that evening before he went to bed.

After a morning nap, we kicked the celebration in high gear at Burke Lake. While it was a very HOT day, the weather fortunately held out on us. Kam really enjoyed playing in the open space and later on the carousel and playground. (Burke Lake also happens to be the same place where we were engaged. We realized later that we were just yards away from the same exact spot where Mehul proposed. We never imagined we would have returned years later to celebrate our son's first birthday!)

Some photos of the day and a touching slideshow our photographer put together for us. It was a perfect day and something Mehul and I will always remember (even if Kamran doesn't ;-)

Kamran's First Birthday slideshow

A little story behind Kamran's birthday cake. It was inspired by a ball that he is obsessed with at daycare.

It's the first thing he grabs for when he arrives in the morning and he does not like to share it with anyone else! We're still working on the sharing thing but it really is too cute to see how happy he gets. We searched all over to find the same exact ball as one of his birthday gifts but could only find something close to it.

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes and thinking of Kamran on his special day!

The Build-Up

As Kamran's first birthday started to creep up on us, Mehul and I couldn't help but reflect back on the past year. I've definitely been feeling sentimental and nostalgic. I might even be a bit extreme at times but I think I'm allowed. ;-)

Anyway, I thought I would post some of our favorite photos as we were going back in time (More details about Kam's birthday in a separate post).

Bollywood Star

Over the Memorial Day weekend, we attended Daddy's cousin's wedding. This was the first time Kamran wore Indian clothes and I was so excited to dress him up!

Just the three of us....

(I love Kam's vest with the red silk handkerchief - who says boys clothes can't be cute?!)
