Happy Birthday Nani!

We roadtrip'ed down to Nani and Grandpa's place for Nani's bday. We spent the day pampering Nani (as much as she would let us!) and packed a picnic to enjoy the weather. Kamran loved sitting with his Nani while the rest played a game of toss. This kid is infatuated with balls!

Unfortunately that night was a rough one for Kam. He was up all night (which we later learned was an ear infection). Nani and Grandpa stayed up all night with the little guy so we could get some sleep and hurry home the next day. Sunday evening was another rough one for Kamran. Dadi happened to be in town and also helped us take care of him. We're thankful to both our parents who were a huge help in keeping us sane and giving us a few hours of sleep! I honestly can't remember how we made it through the newborn days.

Poor guy had a fever which remained for the past few days. When Kamran is sick he is usually himself. That was not the case this time around. Poor guy had no energy and it broke our heart to see him like that. But he's on the mend and smiling a lot more. Get better soon little guy.

My First Mother's Day

This time last year, we were excitedly anticipating the arrival of Kamran. Hard to believe a year has passed I am now a mother. This year was very special as I was celebrating my first mother's day. I've been at this for less than a year and I must say that I have an entirely new appreciation for all the moms out there and my own mom who is an inspiration! I don't think you can ever truly appreciate your own mom until you become one yourself.

Mehul and Kamran really made the day special. It was a day of relaxation and being pampered. It started off with a delicious breakfast and than we headed out for a lovely picnic at a local winery where Bhami Masi and Rob Masa joined us. Kamran was truly an angel while we did a tasting (this is a small miracle considering he has not been the easiest to deal with when we go out to eat).

It was a was a wonderful day. Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone and our sisters/bro-in-laws for the beautiful flowers. And of course Mehul and Kamran for a memorable day!

Here is an attempt for a family photo:

Hope all you mommies out there enjoyed your day as well!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Mehul said the best part of his birthday this year was having Kamran be a part of it. And Kam equally enjoyed his birthday - he couldn't resist all the treats!

Dadi, Ami Fui, and Chris Fua came over earlier in the week to celebrate early.

Kam was asleep by the time we cut the cake but he did get to enjoy it the next day after his dinner.

Auntie Kavitha and Uncle Praveen happened to be in the area and stopped by on Daddy's bday.

It was great to see them and Kam had a really good time tossing the ball around with Uncle Praveen. (Kamran loves balls!)

And than we had our own little family celebration before Mommy and Daddy went to dinner...

but not before Kamran enjoyed another round of cake!

11 Months!

We are marveling at the changes Kam has made in 2 months. We can't believe how fast the changes come. They seem to happen overnight! He has gone from the army crawl to crawling on all fours and now pulling himself up (sometimes the little daredevil does it with one hand!). He's even going up the stairs on his own (this actually occurred a few days after his 11 month bday but I'm including it since I'm writing this retroactively).

And since I am writing this retroactively, Kam has fully transitioned to 100% whole milk (as of mid-May). We're excited to report that we have been starting to see some weight gain from this (since this has been a struggle!).

Just a few more weeks till Kam turns one. I'm not ready for this!

A Visit from The Groves

We were thrilled to receive a recent visit from The Groves. Kieran and Kam haven't caught up since we last visited him back in October. My how the kids have changed since! Both of the boys are now mobile and filled with lots of energy! Energetic boys = Exhausted Parents! Let's just say our visits with each other are quite different now that we are parents! ;-)

We share

Window blinds are fun!

What kind of trouble can we get into now?!

We're looking forward to the boys getting together again later this summer!

Catching Up With A Few of My Buddies

Kamran had a chance to hang with some of his buddies this weekend. First, we met up with Aidrek at his annaprasan.

Than we headed to The Patels later in the day. Rayan and Kamran were adorable! Kamran gives both Mehul and me his version of hugs and kisses. It's rare he does this with anyone else. But on this day, Kamran would occassionly crawl to Rayan and give him a hug. They also had a blast "talking" to each other while Kamran ate dinner and Rayan played in the kitchen. And before bedtime, the boys got one last bit of excitement in by playing with the ever so entertaining door stopper. But the best part was when they politely took turns bouncing the stopper. Too cute!

Storytime

Each night before Kamran goes to bed we read him a story. Tonight I happened to overhear Kamran laughing hysterically during storytime with Mehul so I just had to find out what was going on.

I found them reading Dr. Seuss ABCs...

A Rockstar Birthday!

This weekend we attended Jaanav's 1st (rockstar themed) birthday!

Kamran was a little shy at first but he got over that pretty fast. Jaanav gave Kamran a few tips on how to play the guitar. By the end of the party, we think they talked about taking the show on the road!

Happy Birthday Jaanav!

My Date

While Daddy was away this weekend, I decided to take Kamran out for out for a date!

The weather was so gorgeous on Sunday we couldn't pass up the opportunity for some ice cream. Kamran is very funny with food these days. He always shakes his head no regardless of what it is. He needs to have a little taste first before he decides whether he will have anymore. Of course he loved the ice cream (who doesn't like ice cream?!) and enjoyed a few more bites with me.

Until he decided his teething ring tasted better

and was even more distracted when the girls youth soccer team stopped by.

And while I may not have been as memorable of a date (yup, he's still staring at them), I had a great time!
