Going Home

After three nights in the hospital, we left to go home on Monday afternoon. While eager to get home with Kamran, there was something about leaving the "safety net" of the hospital where we had dozens of nurses and doctors at our disposal to soothe our first time parent fears and questions.

Our first night at home went surprisingly well. We are keeping Kamran in our room and very soon realized that we had to pratically move his entire nursery in our room to remain functional. I am a planner and spent a lot of time "nesting" for Kamran's arrival during those 9 months, but I/we could never have planned for some of things we have experienced and needed over the past few days! As with most parents we have struggled the most with the lack of sleep. My mom had to wake us up the first night b/c we almost slept through one of the feedings. Thank goodness his Nani was watching out for him :-)

Our second night was much tougher! To summarize, Kamran's bladder basically exploded. In a 1.5 hour timespan not only did Mehul have to change his diaper three times but also his onesies and the cribsheets. What a night!

The past two nights have remained challenging. Kamran seems to get a little cranky b/w 11-1am which makes it tougher to get him to sleep. Overall he is a good baby so we can't complain. He is usually only fussy when he needs to be changed or fed. We are hoping it stays that way :-) I should also note that the adjustment has been much easier since my parents staying with us for a few. They have been really great and will miss their support when they leave. Thanks Mom & Dad!

While it's been a challenging few days and are confident we have many more ahead of us, it has been rewarding. Mehul and I are enjoying our time with him. We can't stop looking at him and marveling at our little miracle!
